10th Annual Dave's Mom's Thanksgiving Pie Contest

One of our favorite Late Show with David Letterman traditions occurs each Thanksgiving, when Dave fires up the satellite and chats with his Mom (Dorothy), and attempts to guess what kind of pies she has made for Thanksgiving. Since 1999, the AFL Pie Committee (Helen, Traci, and James) has been conducting an annual pie contest so that you the home viewer can play along at home.

Last Thanksgiving there was only a rerun due to the writer's strike. Rather than cancel the Pie Contest, we came up with a little something called the Pie Machine 314159, an elaborate computer program (written by Helen) that spits out a random selection of pie flavors from its vast database. We are happy to report that there is no writer's strike this year, and the Late Show will air a new episode on Thanksgiving as in years past. But now that we have the Pie Machine up and running, and because we care about you, the home viewer, participants in this year's contest can match wits with Dave's Mom and the Pie Machine.
