Here I am on September 22, 2001, preparing to plant my David Letterman Tulip Poplar. There's not a lot of fall color in this shot, but there are some brilliant reds and oranges on the other side of the house that you can't see from here. It'll be gorgeous in another week.

Here's how the tree spent the winter, all snug in its tube. I really couldn't tell if was alive or not, and could only wait until May to see if it would grow new leaves.
