The Dave Tree has survived its first Vermont winter. I first saw little buds on it on May 9, and by May 17 one (very cute) little leaf, about an inch across, had opened up. I took pictures documenting those early stages of growth, but unfortunately, I ruined the roll of film trying to get it out of the camera with a few shots left on the roll. Now that I've gone digital I don't have to worry about that happening anymore.

Look at those leaves!

The leaves are getting bigger every day, and farther down the tube there are tiny new leaves opening up.

Only another inch for that tallest leaf to clear the top of the tube.

I was totally out of town for a few days for DaveCon 2002. The Dave Tree cleared the top of the tube while I was away. Time to remove the bird safety netting!
