Dave Tree Planting Report
Part II
My parents arrived at the house shortly after I hung up with Traci. It was going on 5:00, so we got right to work. My mom went upstairs to put a final coat of red paint on an old bookcase that came from my parents' house, and my dad and I went outside to plant my David Letterman Tulip Poplar. We brought Magic outside with us, on a long leash that I tied to the porch. My dad turned on his car radio, because, he said with a smile, "I believe that plants like music." The tree was treated to a rousing Wagner overture (Die Meistersinger), followed by some soothing Bach Two and Three Part Inventions. I brought out my camera so that we could document this historic occasion, and we were ready to begin.
Well, first we dug a hole and loosened up the dirt.

My dad, who has done a lot of planting in his day, instructed me to take the tree out of the pot, place the pot in the hole

pack dirt around the pot, and wet it down.
(Magic was nearby, eating grass and enjoying the fesh air.)

Then I removed the pot from the ground, and carefully placed the root ball in the space where the pot had been.
